MRSNZ Membership
The MRSNZ (Market Research Society of New Zealand) is the professional body for anyone involved or interested in market research in New Zealand.
New Zealand’s market research industry is world class. The MRSNZ is committed to further developing the standard of Market Research in New Zealand, both through internal standards and by promoting better understanding of the industry and its role.

These are outlined in more detail below.
Full Membership
This is an individual membership for market researchers and market research users who have at least two years' experience in the industry. The Market Research Society is largely an organisation of individuals (as opposed to organisations such as AMRO, which represent companies), and the majority of members are Full members. The benefits of Full Membership include:

attendance at MRSNZ events (conferences, speakers, seminars, social events, etc) at discounted prices;

full voting rights.
Full members undertake to abide by the MRSNZ Code of Practice and complaints can be brought against them, as individuals, if they personally fail to comply.

Associate Membership
This is an individual membership for market researchers or those interested in market research, who have less than two years experience in the field. The benefits of Associate Membership include:

attendance at MRSNZ events (conferences, speakers, seminars, social events, etc) at discounted prices.
Associate Members also undertake to abide by the MRSNZ Code of Practice and complaints can be brought against them if they fail to comply.

Corporate Membership
This is not an individual membership but a membership for organisations who are users of market research and whose main source of income is not market research. Each Corporate Member may nominate one representative as a Full Member, so long as that person qualifies for Full membership. The benefits of Corporate Membership include:
Corporate Members undertake to abide by the MRSNZ Code of Practice and complaints can be brought against the organisation if it fails to comply. The senior executive of the company holding Corporate Membership is held responsible for its actions in this respect.

Market Research Company Membership
This is another membership category for organisations, not individuals. It is for organisations whose main source of income is Market Research. In addition, these Members are expected to have at least one Full Member, and may have any number of Full or Associate members.
This membership was set up to ensure that market research companies are accountable for the professional conduct of all their staff, including those who are not MRSNZ members. AMRO requires all its members to be MRSNZ Market Research Company Members and this membership is also a requirement of IQS accreditation. It does not include other benefits such as publications or voting rights.
Market Research Company Members undertake to abide by the MRSNZ Code of Practice and complaints can be brought against the organisation if it fails to comply. The senior executive of the Market Research Company Member is held responsible for its actions in this respect.

Field Membership (Market Research Interviewers)
Field Membership is available for any person not eligible for Full Membership, but who is currently engaged in the employment of market research field work and interested in furthering the aims and objectives of the Market Research Society. The person must be nominated and seconded by Full members of the Society. Benefits include:

Field members undertake to abide by the MRSNZ Code of Practice and complaints can be brought against them, as individuals, if they personally fail to comply.

Student Membership
An individual membership for students enrolled either full-or part-time in a course of study in the calendar year of the course of study. It is not intended for market researchers who are also practicing market research (except as part of their study). Benefits of Student Membership include:

Life Membership
This is awarded to fully paid-up members of the MRSNZ in exceptional circumstances. Life Members have all the rights, benefits and privileges of a Full Member, and undertake to observe the Code of Practice.

Fellowship
Fellowship is awarded to fully paid-up members of the MRSNZ who are practising market researchers and who, in the opinion of the exisitng Fellows, are well respected and have contributed significantly to the industry as a whole. Fellows of the MRSNZ will have all the rights, benefits and privileges of a Full Member, and undertake to observe the Code of Practice.
