AMRO Aims and Objectives
Promoting industry standards in New Zealand
AMRO - the Association of Market Research Organisations - was formed in 1984 as an industry group to help promote consistently high industry standards and to help ensure the maintenance of the public's good will. AMRO member companies co-operate in compiling industry data, establishing professional and ethical standards for the industry and in communicating with the users of research as well as the general public.
AMRO was established to:
-
Encourage wider awareness within government, the business community and the general public of the value of market research;
-
Act on behalf of and improve the public image of the market research industry;
-
Support the aims and objectives of the Market Research Society of NZ.
To these ends AMRO has, since being established, carried out a number of activities including:
-
Co-operation amongst members to improve the quality of research execution and reporting;
-
Co-ordination of relationships with non-commercial research organisations and other bodies such as Government departments.
-
Consultation with Government with regard to the establishment of the Privacy Act.
-
Establishment of a standard Interviewer ID card to assure the public of accountability.
-
Sponsorship and support for the activities of the Market Research Society including seminars, conferences and publications.
-
